Hi there

I just registered and I'm using the forum for the first time - so please just let me know if I'm doing anything wrong. I'm a fast learner :p

I'm looking for a livery yard which is accessible from Putney in about 30 minutes or less as my 25 years old gelding is finally moving from Bavaria to England.
The main things I'm looking for is good turn out all year and hacking as well as a floodlight all-weather arena or indoor school as I will mainly be around in the evening.

As I won't be able to visit every day during the week assisted DIY or part livery - basically turning in/ out, mucking and feeding - would be great.

I was thinking about the Chessington/ Claygate/ Epsom area but I'm open for other ideas.
Does anybody here have any experiences or does anybody know a suitable yard with free places?

Thank you all for your help and a nice weekend,
V :)

There are a few yards around here! But not all which meet your requirements.

The soil in Claygate / Chessington is very heavy. I'm not aware of any yard locally (until someone shoots me down in flames!) which could honestly say that have good all year round turn out. Obviously some are better than others. Some have no turn out at all.

Hacking will involve a small amount of roadwork because this is Surrey and there are roads everywhere. But there is quite a bit of off road hacking once you can get onto it. Again exactly how much roadwork and what sort of hazards will depend on which yard.

The only yards around here with a flood lit arena are - I think - Woodstock South and Manor farm. Barwell might have floodlights - I'm not sure.

PM me if you want more details than might be prudent to put on an open forum but the yards around here (Claygate / Chessington) are:

Woodstock South
Woodstcok North
Old Barn (School livery only I think)
Chessington EC
Brightside
Manor farm
Bridle Road
Slough farm (Not in Slough despite the name...)
Arbrook Farm
Barwell
Barwell Court

As is always the case the best ones tend to have a waiting list I'm afraid!

I have just started sharing at horse at Chace farm in ashtead (right next to epsom)
have no idea about livery etc you would have to call them as they dont have a website.
Friendliest place i've ever been too! Amazing school, Amazing hacking! Fields are also in amazing condition! Its so quiet up there and I already love it after only being there a couple of weeks!

Hi Guys

Thanks so much for your help - it's really appreciated by Kismet and me!!!

@hollieeb - would you mind sending me a name and/or phone number for Chace farm by PM?

I'm at Woodlands farm (sarah Fells yard) we have limited livery spaces and have a feeling might have one space.
Basically most liveries been here 10 years plus which speaks for itself. Of interested PM me and I'll give you Sarahs Number. We have excellent facilities and very happy horses and humans : )

I ride at Brightside Equestrian and it is lovely! Great hacking, very neat and tidy, excellent prices and v.friendly. And they have space as new stables are being built. pm me for details

Hi guys

Again, many thanks to all of you. My search was so much easier with all the advise coming from you.
I had a look at a few yards now but Brightside felt right for me straight away and Kismet and me will move in, as soon as I can organise his transport from Germany :) (I'm very excited!!!!).

@littleladylou - looking forward to meeting you :)

Hi there

Yes, he finally arrived today and even though he was a bit stiff from the long journey and also a bit confused, I think, he was already busy with his hay when I left the stable :)

Thanks again to all of your post - I think we found a good home :)
