Hey Peeps

Naughty Ginger Ninja keeps throwing people off during the week so I have decided to take him to work with me (I live and work in London during the week and commute at weekends). This way he will get ridden 5 times per week, my poor husband and the yard staff stop dicing with death and I get to see at least one of my boys everyday. Yay! But...

Im not local to the area so have no idea where even to start. He lives out 24/7, but I do need a school but most importantly I need hacking. I'd also like to be able to do him myself in the mornings so I need early access. I looked at Caldecote Farm website and it looks lovely but you can't get in before 0730, and I'd like to be able to get in at around 6.

Any suggestions? I work in Northwood so 10-15mins from there would be ideal!

Thanks guys!

Have a look in the Sarratt, rickmansworth chorleywood areas, there are some lovely professional yards with great hacking, and some really nice pubs for weekend lunches! :)

Batchworth Farm - Not sure if this one does 24/ turnout, but its close enough to pop to in your lunch break from Northwood, with school and hacking

Chorleywood Livery - fab hacking, nice big school, 24/7 turnout available.

Also, go to the Horse House (Ducks Hill Road) and have a look at their ad board - I think they even do livery at that farm

try the horse house in northwood - they have a noticeboard and Marion who works there is also quite helpful. i think they do livery too.

Also try Catlips farm in rickmansworth - i *think* they do 24x7 turnout in groups and they have a school.

Also look at harefield, pond farm i think has closed down though.

I went to look at Batchworth and it seems quite nice. Any thoughts from anyone? Do they do 24/7 turnout?
Thanks :)

I've only been to Batchworth once to try a share horse - it looked like there are lots of liveries there (good if you like the company/want people to help out), school was good (rubber, decent size) and there's at least one field you can ride in at the yard in the summer.

How about Chandlers Cross, nice yard called Potten Farm. I believe they do 24/7 TO during the summer. They have a huge school, horsewalker, track round the edge of the fields and good hacking. I think its also well within your price range too.

Ooh that sounds super! Thanks!

Yep know two people at potten, not 24/7 in winter though but no restrictions as such (one goes up at 5.30 am in winter to turn out and back up at 7pm to bring in). Has big school, horsewalker and staff if you need assistance :). Im moving to a lovely yard but just stole the last two spaces :p.

HI

Another for Potten Farm, l am a livery there having moved there about 3 weeks ago with my daughter. We love it!!!! We have a horse on box rest due to a hairline fracture in his leg and have loved the fact that we have been able to get help. The facilities are great and the grazing good too.
Pm me if you need more details

I am on this yard and it is fab and my pony lives out 24/7 all year round. However the living out is only really for good doer pony and cob types and I think the yard is full as no spare stables but you could try giving Anne a call in case someone is leaving or to go on the waiting list. It is also within hacking distance of two riding clubs.

Catlips do 24/7 turnout and they have just started a Riding club based there too. I think they have spaces.

Caldecote is quite strict re times because the alarms don't go off til around 7.30. Killed me trying to get everything done by 8! They don't do 24/7 turn out as no-one leaves their horse out overnight, although that may have changed since I left. Lovely school.

Horse House is lovely, but they don't have a school (but fab shop on site and great hacking)

I used to share at a little yard in Bushey called harts farm, dont think it has a website (you may be able to find details of address and phone number if you google it).
its located near to patchetts equestrian centre, within hacking distance so good if u wanna compete occasionally, has incredible hacking nearby, an indoor and a lottle outdoor and good turnout. you have to have a stable but you do have the option to have your horse living out 24/7 and several people do it all year round (or they did when i was there anyway).
not the nicest yard ever, its a bit shabby and the schools arent the greatest but people are friendly and you can turn up whenever, there is just a coded padlock on the front gates that the liverys know so no time restraint!
I would definately reccomend it, and its very cheap, about £70/80 a month for box and field rent i think! I would be stabled there with my horse now if i lived closer!!
Good luck :)
