I am looking to bring my horse to uni with me, I will be living in jesmond. I would preferably like some grass livery as she has time off during the winter, or somewhere with constant everyday winter grazing. Facilities don't need to be fantastic, just want somewhere that she can be a pony!! will consider any options

I'm not from Newcastle (further north into Northumberland) but I'm not sure if there are any yards in Jesmond. Jesmond is more your nightlife/student place.

There is a forum called NE Riders and many of the people on there are from around the Newcastle area and you might get some ideas from them.

Good luck

You've got the moors nearby but I've never seen any horses - am 99% there's only grazing for cattle, certainly on the Jesmond end. I would *think* you may have more joy towards Wallsend and the coast, or out past Gosforth towards Wideopen.

Transport links are very good from Jesmond in all directions if you're not driving; if you do drive, the parking at least is pretty safe. You won't get what you're after within walking distance, at any rate.

Realistically while at uni - at least while a fresher - bear in mind you may find you end up not wanting to go for DIY anyway if cost isn't too prohibitive - at least things are often cheaper up north than further south (not always but as a generalisation!).

There definitely isn't any grazing in Jesmond - it's inner city! Nice - but inner city. There is a livery yard a little out of Newcastle to the west just off the A69, can't remember the name of it but it's probably about 5-6 miles from Jesmond. There are also yards at Dissington and Dinnington which aren't too far. Otherwise out towards Ovingham.

Suffice to say that when I used to live in Newcastle I fairly swiftly moved my horses 15 miles out west, where I was the sole livery...!
