Hi, I'm new to this forum and after some advice on livery yards.
Many years ago I used to ride, I did the usual thing - helped out at riding stables when I was growing up, was in the local pony club and did some competing. For one reason or another I basically left the horsey world behind and only now 20 years or so later am I getting back into it and only now am I realising just how much I've missed it.
I'm seriously thinking about buying a horse and would really be interested in hacking/hobby riding more than competing, although who knows where it might lead. I'm surrounded by countryside where I live but getting anybody to rent/sell me a bit of land is probably going to be impossible so I'd be looking at livery. The thought of livery just fills me with dread because I remember how clique and bitchy they can be and the last place I'd want to end up is somewhere where everybody looks down at you for wanting a horse just for the love of it and hacking rather than the competing lifestyle.
I'd be looking at a combination of DIY/part livery as sometimes I just wouldn't be able to make it to the yard due to my job. I've looked at various livery websites and they look great but word of mouth recommendations would be so much better.
