Livery Yard or Horse Sitter

Hi

I am going on holiday shortly and i usually send my pony to a livery yard, but i have been hearing more about horse sitters. Whats your thoughts on livery yards verses horse sitters? I have also been told that kirstys horses are a good company to use www.kirstyshorses.com has anyone else used them?

I suppose it depends what area your in. I've just looked at the site and it doesn't tell you much does it?

I don't think I would trust my horse to someone who I don't know or who doesn't know my horse. Isn't there one of your riding friends that you know well that would help you out?

Also I suppose it depends on what you want them to do?

ie., Ride your horse or just let him/her graze and groom him/her clean feet out and generallycare for him/her?

Where is he/she kept at present? On your own land or what?

But still maintain that in one visit they cannot know your horse.

Don't have any advice I'm afraid but has anyone ever worked for this kind of company? I'm looking for a job with horses and was thinking of doing something like this but I have no idea how much it pays and how many days you would be expected to work.

i currently keep her at my home so going away is a problem. I dont like moving her really as it upsets her for few days and she takes a bit to settle. No i havent got a price list yet, but think i might ask for one. What do you do with your horses/ponies while you are away?
