Do you have a list of Health and Safety Regulations and Environmental Legislation for your livery yard? If so, is it a generic one which has been obtained or one you have made up yourself?

Thanks in advance.

Gonna have a wee nosey at BHS and I've been Google searching as well

, it's for an assignment in Tech so thought I'd get a few different people's opinions.

When you say a list, do you mean a list of regs that could apply or do you mean what legislative requirement must you comply with ? Reason being the former could include just about everything.

Here are some rrequirements and things to consider off the top of my head - long time sice I did H&S

H&S-
Health & Safety at work act - covers every thing - genric duty on empoyer & employees, under this you are then required to have:

H&S policy
Risk assesments (written if 5 or more employees if I remember rightly)
Manual handling assesments
RIDDOR - Reporting accidents and injuries/accident book
COSHH assesments - for hazardous materials, weedkillers, creosote some medications etc.
Electical Systems and equipment must be safe and tested
Fire safety - must be a drill/procedure/training and suitable equipment
Insurance, public liability

As far as environment goes maily its The Environmental Protection Act 1990 - this requires businesses to dispose of waste properly. Ie no burning, must be removed by a licensed waste carrier (not put in a landrover and dumped in a layby). Other reqwuirements are not to cause stautory nuisnace to nearby residents in terms of light, noise smell. As a landowner a yard owner must prevent the spread of ragwort (injurious weeds Act I think) and must keep land clear of Rats and Mice - Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949.

Agree that the LA and HSA websites could help. try just googling H&S in riding schools or livery yards.

Hope the asignment goes OK
