We are moving to North Yorkshire early next year and was wondering if anyone could recommend a yard in the Thirsk area or within 10 (ish) miles of there. On my wishlist is -

Good turnout 24/7
facilities - indoor school would be great
off road hacking
nice people :)

Thanks

Hmm, don't really know Thirsk area all that well and it depends where abouts you are there but there is Northallerton equestrian centre around there and they have an indoor and outdoor school, xc course and they run regular events (SJ, dressage, clinics, XC, ODEs etc etc). Helen Bell's is also up that way and I think she does livery and has a fair few facilities (3 gallop tracks). Don't think she has an indoor school though. I can't think of any others but then i am not from that area. I am sure there are tonnes though as a big horsey area.

there aren't many all that close to thirsk,
there's the GG centre at Raskelf, not sure how good the hacking is, although the facilities are excellent
There's Helen Bell's at Breckenbrough (but not sure how expensive or otherwise she'll be)
There's Toad Hall on the edge of thirsk, but they're quite funny about turning horses out at all, bot just the winter
There's also Pear Tree Livery in Knayton, I don't know what their facilities are like
There's Eleanor Mercer's between thirsk and masham, which has good facilities, tho I don't know if she takes liveries still
There is Northallerton EC, but don't know what their livery arrangement is since it changed hands

I think that's all I can think of, but I'll keep ticking it over!

as for off road hacking - if you don't mind a short trip in a box then there's plenty to be had on the moors, and I can soon show you about the place!

Thanks so much for the replies guys, there seems to be a fair bit of choice. Just checked out GG centre and it looks amazing - love the fact that they have gallops! Will def have to go and check that place out.

Jenhunt - thanks for the kind offer, will def take you up on that when we move down. Hacking on the moors sounds fab!

we regularly take the horses down to the GG centre for schooling trips in the winter. the facilities are pretty awesome, the place is so underused it must be great for the liveries!

defo keep in touch, will be nice to meet up with other HHO peoples and have someone to hack out with!
