I am looking for a good yard in the above areas. I am relocating from Berkshire with work and need a reliable , good quality and non - bitchy yard to keep my horse at. We do mainly dressage and a bit of hacking so menage facilities a must !

I really want somewhere pleasant and well run. Due to new demands at work I haven't got the time or inclination for anywhere bitchy or where you feel you have to be part of a clique - just nice experienced people . I know that makes me sound like a grumpy old bag !

Any suggestions appreciated .

I am moving to Repton and will be working in Derby and Nottingham so somewhere about no more than a half hour drive from either Derby or Repton would be good as I can then ride about 4 - 5 times a week. I do need full livery though. Hope that helps as have not much of a clue about the area !

There are two yards just outside Ticknall, on the ingleby road if that is any help. Not sure what they are like these days it is years since I had a share horse there! The hacking was good, you could buy a pass for Calke Park or get to Foremark reservoir as well as a decent bridlepath network.

There are a few round Etwall, Barleyfields and Hargate both have liveries, Oakdene is pure livery and seems to have a good reputation, and I think Highfield Happy Hens have DIYs.

Then over in Staffordshire there is of course Eland Lodge.

The place I'm at is brilliant (and full livery - 2 different types offered)...horses looked after immaculately...

We have a brilliant large cushionride menage (never floods, isn't too deep and is lovely to ride on), excellent hacking routes, BHSI BD registered trainer on site, equine dentist on site. Lovely liveries - no b****ing whatsoever and its in a lovely setting.

We are about a 15 minute drive from Derby, sort of heading towards Nottingham.

Just PM if you want any further details...I'm really not sure if there's any space (think there is) but if area is ok for you travel wise, would be well worth ringing about...

Royal , yes please may I have the number. If it is the right yard I don't mind the extra travel . I have had a look at Eland Lodge as they have a website - looks like a competitive type yard and although we do a bit of unaffiliated dressage in the summer , we don't do much more than that and it looks like you couldn't use the menage there at weekends if they have competitions on , which is when I would mostly ride.

Where abouts are you? I know of quite a few yards? Do you want DIY or full livery?

I know of a really good full livery with good hacking, lovely school, horse walker, all year turnout, 2 vets that have horses on livery there and run by a very experienced instructor who is also an ex vet nurse.

one DIY livery with horse walker and menage (menage does get wet)

They are both Derbyshire

One near Uttoxeter: DIY/part/full they are very flexible. Hacking round quite lanes, sand menage, lots of turnout.

PM me for more details and numbers if you are interested.
