Hi.

The boyfriend and I are currently looking at buying our first house together.

We have seen a house we really like in Whitehall, Darwen.

Neither of us knew much about the area, and have been told various things by lots of different people but we went for a good look round to decide for ourselves and we didnt see anything that would put us off!

I currently live and work in Horwich and my horse is stabled on the edge of Rivington. Its only 25mins from the house we like and I will still be in the area for work so I may not even devide to move the horse but I just wanted to have a nosy as to what was out there

Are there any nice livery yards that are close to the area that you reccomend?
Are there any to avoid? (Pm me if needed please)

I have been on my current yard for over 7 years. However it is a pretty basic yard with no school etc, but it does has 24/7 turnout and excellent hacking.

For a new yard I really would like to have a school (as currently cant leave the yard in winter due to steep hills, snow and ice etc) so would be nice to have somewhere to ride even if it is only for 10-15mins.

Winter turnout is a must. I know 24/7 turnout yards are a rareity these days but I would like him to be turned out during the day at a minimum.

There are only 8 horses are the current yard and I dont know how well he would cope in a busy environment. Although he may well enjoy it and it might stop him getting quite so clingy to one horse in particular!

Sorry that ended up being quite long but reccomendation would be much appreciated.

Thanks =)

Sorry, but really can't think of anything in the Darwen area to be honest. As you've said 24/7 and or winter turnout unfortunately is a rare thing to find on yards nowadays, so i'd stay put where you are for now as having that turnout and good hacking is very hard to come by. So many yards close their fields for the winter,..or severely restrict turnout, or cancel any turnout as soon as it's starts to rain!!

It's not what you want to hear i suppose, but i a guess you could have a really good look/nosey round yourself if/when you did decide to move into the area.

That probably didn't help you alot really !!
