Hi all

I am looking to move my 2 semi retired horses upto where I work. This means I'll have more time for them and by doing them myself will hopefully save around £400 a month as they are currently on full livery.

I went to see a yard literally 2 mins from where I work which seemed ideal so I put a deposit down. This morning a lady messaged me saying that the yard is lovely but the owner is evil. There's a list of banned liveries longer than your arm and there's a private ex liveries page that consists of around 40 people who all hate her.

I'm now panicking. I met with the the yard owner and lady who does services. The lady who does services is lovely, the yard owner seemed novice but ok.

I don't really know the area in terms of where else to look and wondered if anyone could help. Needs to be as local to Elstre as possible for 2 geldings, school isn't paramount but hacking and turnout is. Would need DIY with services.

Many thanks

In the early 70s I kept the yard at Nicol Farm which is at the top of the hill as you'd enter Borehamwood from the Radlett direction, and at the time there was another yard just a few hundred yards away which was run by a bloke called John Thomas! Whether they're still 'yards', I don't know. A little further away there's The Olde Forge at Lye Lane in Bricket Wood, and some friends of mine recently sold it, but whether it's now a private yard or open to liveries, I'm not sure. Then there's Woodcock Farm at the top of Woodcock Hill, though again I'm going back many years, so whether it's still in use, I can't say.

Alec.
