I'm moving in a few months to Yorkshire, to the border of West and South Yorkshire. I'm looking for a livery yard that offers part and full livery as I have to work away for a chunk of every week.

Can anyone suggest some good quality professional yards, maybe where the emphasis is on classical dressage (but not snooty, must be a friendly place ). I want access to an arena, pref indoor, decent hacking if poss, but not a deal breaker, excellent turnout 24/7 for my horse and nice, clean beds with lots of hay/hayledge. I've had my horses at home the last few years, but due to this move and a long standing disability that has got worse, I'll have to go into a livery yard or give up, hence wanting to find a really good quality friendly yard.

I'm looking Penistone, Rotherham, parts of Barnsley or Sheffield if near to the M1 (between junctions 31 and 37 if M1 side.

Thanks.

Someone I know has just moved to a place called Pennine Equine which is near to Barnsley. Believe they have a website so you may be able to get some more details there. Has 2 outdoor arenas, horse walker, loads of off road hacking land, feed/tack shop and thats about as much as I know. Shes only just moved there but says that its very nice. Dont think it has an indoor arena though there is a place just down the road which does and holds comps, dressage etc.

Hope this helps you..

hunter house at grenoside, oak lodge penistone road, penine equine wortley, barley hall thorpe hesley, barnes green grenoside, throstle nest barnsley royston, think best of them are penine equine or hunter house is nice full size arena access to 100s of acres of woodland horsewalker tack shop everything you need if you want some numbers pm me good luck

Westfield Park at Barnsley just off m1 is very nice, has 2 indoor arena's and an outdoor, has comps on too website is http://www.westfieldpark.co.uk/ also pennine equine have a website - http://www.inbarnsley.co.uk/index.html - I went to look round here after using the xc course and it is nice but MASSIVE yard so not sure how much use of the school & walker you would get, hacking amazing though! I didnt move there as too big for me. Theres also http://www.hunterhouseequestrian.co.uk/ but not sure if vaccancies and no indoor school, Masserellas - will find number this is in rotherham and has indoor school. Bromley farm also has 2 indoor schools only does full livery but think they are full - http://www.wharncliffewarmbloods.co.uk/ - there are tons of yards offering full and part livery that ive found but not many with indoor arena :-)

There is Barley Hall at Thorpe Hesley have direct access to the trans pennine way for hacking but no indoor school, Wharncliffe warmbloods that definitely do part and full livery and have 2 indoor schools. They are linked to Pennine Equine (website has gone now for some reason), fantastic hacking, friendly people, big stables and feed place on site.
Hopton Horse Center at Mirfield near Huddersfield
Woodnook arena is between Honley and Meltham with Honley Livery Stables about 1/2 mile away
There are other yards around but I have no idea what the facilities are, I have phone numbers for them I can pm you if you are interested.
Whiteacres at Stannington
Parkview (HD8 area)
Baraugh Green
Hoyland (12 x 12 stables and manege)
Hazel House at Gunthwaite (Near Hannah & Becky Moody for dressage)
Lea Bank Farm at Loxley
Oak Farm nr Grenoside Sheffield

There is also Aldham Mill near Barnsley but I heard they were not taking any more full liveries, plus its up for sale so may be a bit of an upheaval if whoever buys it decides not to use it as a livery yard and you need to move again.

If you are looking for places that do classical dressage try contacting Nanvy Walker who does do and teach classical dressage, she may know places that are classically minded.

If you go into Argo Feeds or Throstlenest Saddlery they both have notice boards where yards advertise.

Becky and Hannah Moody's is in Penistone and I know they used to offer livery although not sure if they still do? Might be worth asking. They have an indoor and outdoor although I know their turnout is limited.

Good luck with your search.

Can recommend Wharncliffe Warmbloods - the link is above. It is just off of the M1. I am there on full livery and can highly recommend it.
There is direct hacking onto Wortley Park and there are two indoor schools. You can have 24/7 turn out in the summer and they turn out during the day in the winter. If you enjoy competing, there are regular shows.
I was wary of going back onto full livery after being on small DIY yards, but really enjoy being here. They look after your horse well but don't mind you being hands on when you have time e.g. don't mind you topping up your nets if you wish to.

You could come at the problem from another angle perhaps, find a livery yard or buy another house with land and maybe pay some-one to be a part time groom. I know womeone this worked amazingly well for, lasted for years until the owner moved to the other end of the country.

Can I just hijack this post and ask if anyone liveries at Aldham Mill or knows anyone that liveries there to PM me, I'm considering moving there and would like some info and opinions as to what its like - thanks

Sounds good, I know someone looking for full livery and think location might be ok for her? I'll let her know. Have you been there long?

Since August this year. Before that I used to rent a yard and pay someone to look after both of mine.

Believe me, I am very pickyabout who looks after my horses and dreaded going back onto full livery, but I am pleased so far.
There are also quite a few long term liveries, which I always think is a good sign. Everyone is really friendly - no cliquiness. I would definately recommend giving them a call and taking a look.
