I currently live and study (a biology degree) in Nottingham and so keep my horses at livery in Nottingham - however, after graduating from my biology degree in July this year, I am starting a physiotherapy degree in September at Coventry University....I thoroughly intend on taking Socks with me, and mum has agreed to pay his livery at a yard near the university if I can find one suitable (if not, Socks will be sold :( )

So I am going to pick all your brains! Obviously I understand it is way in advance, but after firming Coventry as an offer, and beginning to look at paces to live (I'm looking for a one bedroom flat to live in in Coventry city centre, close to the uni) - I thought I should look in to Socks's possible accommodation also ;)

Preferably within 20-30 minute drive from Coventry city centre (otherwise petrol becomes a bit too much on a student budget...) and preferably full livery (or part livery) maximum £90 a week - he is currently on full livery £85 a week (well, ''full livery'' - so everything such as feed, hay, mucking out, bedding, turning in/out, rug changes etc is included, but not exercise, and I get access to hacking, menage, jumping facilities, all year round turnout and a horse walker) - I would like something similar, but would compromise on some things i.e. no walker, or maybe only daytime turnout, or only village hacking rather than bridleways/countryside....but I definitely need an arena and jumping equipment and turnout.

But does anyone know/can recommend any good, friendly yards with full or part livery including arena, jumping facilities, turnout, stabling, feed, hay, bedding, turn in/out etc in the Coventry area??

I've ALWAYS been at the same yard so have never done the whole moving yards thing...so I don't really know where to start!!! So any advice/recommendations would be fab :)

Thank you in advance :)

ETA: google search found me these three:

PM me if you have any form of review of any of these! :)

Well, I personally wouldn't keep any of my horses at any of those yards especially stonehouse. They're all run down. But then around Coventry area (i live in balsall common) there are more horses than there are people and stables so if you can get any type of stable you're very lucky! Girl on my yard in 3rd year at cov uni doing physio (coincidence) is leaving my yard June but stable already reserved 6 months before!

Oh ok, eek, thank you for the warning - but hmm, I guess I'll have to dfinitely start looking now then to try and find somewhere and reserve it!!

Thank you for your advice :)

Castle Hill Riding School - http://www.castlehillrs.com/ - was there for about 16 years, has lots of facilities and is a really nice place. I've moved to Hertfordshire recently so not sure if there's any livery spaces but definately worth a ring :)

Pool House Farm on Hob Lane in Balsall Common have vacancies advertised at the moment. If you go in the West Midlands section of the regional boards there are loads of posts about the area you are looking which might give you some more to think about and contact.

Hi MandyMoo,

I'm at Oak Farm and have been there for years and would highly recommend it. I live 11 miles away so occasionally look at places closer to home and can never find anything to match it.

I think there are a couple of spaces at the moment as someone left a few days ago, but obviously you don't need anywhere yet. To be honest it goes in fits and starts. We will have a full yard for a year then suddenly 2 or 3 people will move on within a short period.

I think they have a waiting list so might be worth getting in touch now, and then touching base a few times over the summer so that when a space comes up you are at the forefront of Claire's mind.

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions :-)

Jules
