Livery yards - Pangbourne/Bradfield/Thatcham area

Hi, I'm moving to the Bradfield area within the next few months and will be looking for a yard to keep my event horse on a part livery basis. Any recommendations?? Also please PM me if there are any I should steer well clear of! Thanks
 
I don't know the area that well so can't make personal recomendations but it might be worth a look at Cullinghood (google it as they have website), Hardwick Stud in Pangbourne, Jan Fletcher's place called Bourne Farm or something? Also there is a fairly new place in Thatcham that I don't know the name of but can try and find out for you. Possibly also Tidmarsh Stud.
 
By chance I drove through Pangbourne and diverted for a look at Hardwick Stud - not really for me though - more of a creche for kids and dogs plus all of their paddocks were knee deep in buttercups/docks/ragwort/muck, the fencing was dire and the paddocks were seriously overstocked. Shame as it looked quite nice from a distance!
 
Would there be any event riders in the area as I'd ideally like to be somewhere where I could have some tuition/schooling?
 
If you didnt like Hardwick your best bet would be cullinghood, it is pricier than the others but it does have fab facilities etc. Make sure however that you keep track of exactly what you use etc etc. I used to keep my lot there, fab grazing, huge schools, lovely people etc, ample room for everything! - if you want lessons from eventy people, best bet would be Pippa Haywood and her hubby they do flatwork, XC, SJ, the lot and are very good as a team.

If you have a decent horse I'd steer clear of Bradfield, its more riding school type thing, you could try englefield estate although not sure who is running that currently, full of polo ponies currently.

PM me if you want any further info on the area, I have tried most yards! Ended up going DIY and renting my own land and stables!

Its good area for access to all tho, due to M4!
 
Paul Crago does gorgeous livery in Upper Basildon just through Pangbourne, google for his website, though a showjumper rather than an eventer does brilliant sj training & is an all round lovely guy, his wife Karen runs it with him & she is really nice too.

Although this post is very old now (2007) it keeps coming up on google so I feel the need to reply
My father and I have taken over at Hardwick Stud (April 2009) and have worked very hard to restore it to its former glory and i would just like to assure anyone reading this that Hardwick Stud is not how you describe it now! - if you would like to go to www.hardwickstud.com you will see for yourself.
