Im moving to Witham or Chelmsford after Christmas and will hopefully be bringing my boy, Ash, with me.
I would prefer a small yard, we don't need anything fancy (he is 22 and semi-retired), all year round turnout with others is preferable and either DIY ir assissted DIY....any recommendations?
Would also consider a private home and help out with horses in return for livery.

Hi, I dont know of any livery yards in Witham, although I am aware of some in Cressing (near witham) and Kelevdon.

There is a saddlers in Witham. Suggest you give them a call and ask them if there are any ads on thier notice board perhaps, or maybe call Paton and Lees (the equine vets) as they are based round that way and might know of something?

sorry can't be more help, but based 20 miles up the road!

Thanks for the reply Lynds, i have got a bit of time but just wanted to start putting out the feelers! Next time im down there i will go for a drive and find the saddlers! Have looked on the net but its only big yards that seem to have websites, not really what i would like.

Oldashthearab - try Writtle College, they should know all the local (Chelmsford) stables, I think they do livery too and have really nice facilities.:)

Holybred Farm, Little Baddow is ideal for oldies, relaxed, all year turnout and stables with a little coral to keep them moving. Fab hacking too. Would still be there if i hadn't moved counties!

Just had a quick google but cant find contact details for Holybred Farm, any chance you have them Choccie?
If not i will take drive out there when i in Chelmsford in couple of weeks.
