Anybody else have problems with these clippers?
Iv sent mine back 3 times under the years warrenty with the same problem each time. They get so hot even the plastic handle is hard to hold but each time they come back stating nothing wrong. Iv meet somebody who also has the same problem and wondered who else has had the problem with these clippers?
 
I'm actually training in the use off clippers via eddie palin, I sell them but because off this problem have stocked stocking them. Also clipped for years but only ever had problems with these.
 
I've had Liveryman Arena Clippers for 15 years or so now. They are FAB! Mine went through the overheating phase so I sent them to Horse Requisites to have an overhaul. I had been using WD40 to lubricate them and this is why they were not over heating along with needed a bit of TLC. Have 2 sets of blades so you can change half way through, use 3 in 1 oil very regularly I go on the change in engine noise, clear the hair regularly I do this when I oil. Also the tension on them as said above has to be correct - I do them as tight as I can then loosen them for 2 1/2 complete twists. I always replace my clippers in immaculate condition after I have clipped too. I've been clipping approx 15-20 horses a winter all clipped more than 2 times so they can handle a good bit of work.
 
They are ment to be heavy duty yard clippers but I'm a bit worried as the warrenty is now out and if I get the same problem this year I will start a fight with eddie palin. Yes 2 and half turns back is right. But you should not have to change your blades half way through clipping, so are you doing this because they are hot?? Oiling,cleaning between stops yes but not blade changes.

I like your thinking ;)

it's just interesting to see how many people have had this problem, and for the company to say there's nothing wrong. Bit off a difference for the clippers being sat on a work bench running for the engineer to say there's nothing wrong to actually clipping " working" on thich coats.
 
Had the same problem, even when someone else double checked the tension and I kept them well oiled, hense having to clip in two sessions, don't get me wrong there ok but you just have to stop every so often to let them cool down.

Spoke to a clipper company and they said the Liveryman Arenas are rubbish clipppers, I wouldn't go that far but then I wouldn't buy another pair either!
 
Which Arenas have you got? I have the older heavy duty black ones and they now come in a smaller sky blue version? The tensioning is slightly diff to others- PM The Engineer or find his thread on clippers x

If I am clipping 5/6 horses in an afternoon, I always change blades half way though each horse so I am always using cold blades! I don't have the time to wait for blades to cool. Just the way I do things :D How often are you oiling etc? Is it as often as I would be?

I also have the black heavy duty ones.

I only ever clip one horse at day with them as I hate clipping at the best off times. I stop 3 times on each side off the horse to brush hair off and oil. Iv got the heavy duty black ones and so far done 4 clips last year and one this year so I'm not happy
