I've had a set for a few years now. Last year they happily did blanket clips on 3 horses and trace clips on 2. They're absolutely brilliant, light weight, quiet, easy to use because there's no trailing wires. The only thing I didn't find helpful was when I was clipping my gypsy cob mare who had her own opinions on being clipped. When for the 1,000th time she had titted about, making an hour job last all afternoon, I got so cross with her that I threw the clippers at her in a temper. Of course, since they're attached to your waist by the battery cable, they flew through the air about 1ft, crashed to the concrete floor and fell apart. Serves me right lol - took an hour to rebuild them and finish the job he he he. I'd recommend them to anyone for a single horse/small number of horses.
I have a pair I bought 3 years ago - they are great! I clip 3 hunter clips (2 or 3 times each) and 2 trace and a bib clip twice each. I have a mains pair, and a battery pair of wahl avalons (same clipper, same manufacturer, different brand label), and they are so easy to use, so light and quiet, and so little vibration.
I clip for other people, and specialise in difficult horses. These clippers are perfect for the job. I always say to new clients that I'll not charge them for the clip if we need to use sedation or a twitch, and have never not been paid.... It's partly the approach you take, but also how quiet the clippers are!
I have a pair that I bought nearly 2 years ago and I love em! I only have 1 horse and had never clipped a horse in my life! I found them so light and easy to use, especially as I have really small hands, and not having to deal with a trailing wire was great
My horse is 16.3 with a medium coat and I usually do a trace clip taking off all of his neck and head, and I have no problem doing it myself with these clippers
Great little clippers, had mine years, they have done full clips on hairy horses, struggle with heavy feathers but fab everywhere else and tidying hogs. Highly recommended!!!!
They're OK'ish but I wouldn't go wild on them: my traddie cob's thick coat was quite a challenge for them and when I had a friend come to clip him with the clippers she uses it was soooo noticeably quicker.
They're quiet enough, but take so long the horse started getting stressy from standing about so long!
IMO they'd be fiine for something like a TB or Arab, but whilst they're not totally useless for a cob I think something more mannish is needed?
Also .... the fine clipper blade they supplied with the kit is about as f'ing useless as a nun in a punch up IME.
Hi,
Patience is the key! Liveryman harmony clippers are light and quiet. They are small so very agile but they are not really a full on horse clipper, more of a trimmer really. Lots of people use them on dogs. You will have to lubricate your blades often and the blades will need sharpening more often than a large clipper.
