Living out 24/7 - planning for winter

How is your winter planning going so far, what have you done or need to do? My hay is sorted, I need to re-do a bit of fencing in the bottom field but not much as its pretty good, and pull out a couple of weeds. oh and get a couple more water containers ready so its easier to take water down. Got a bath in the bottom field that I need to sort out then that will be ready to hold a lot of water. They have all there rugs sorted too.

I am contemplating getting some of those ground/grass mats to put in the field where they stand to shelter as it gets muddy. Does anyone have any experience of these or know of anything else to use?

Ummm I think thats it?! I am NOT looking forward to the dark evenings, working every hour and only riding at weekends....*cry*!

How about you?
 
Just need to get a couple of rugs washed and that's it. Hay's done. We've still got enough bedding from last year as ours live out 24/7 unless it's really bad then they come in out of the rain for a bit of a break.

Not thinking too much about it just yet though, way too depressing!
 
I know darker evenings are not good. I was trying not to think about it....sorry! Oooo look the suns out today :)
