I am currently feeding my cob Baileys lo-cal but my local feed merchant has told me that Top Spec Light has less calories and is a better product. Has anyone else changed from Lo-Cal to Top Spec Light and if so what was the benefits.

He is currently on 1.5 mugs of Lo-Cal and a large stubbs scoop of Dengie Hifi in each feed twice per day.

Mine are on Top Spec Anti Lam rather than Top Spec Light. They all look really good on it, have great feet, gleaming coats etc. Time and again Top Spec balancers come up top in independent trials for their vitamin and mineral content. Baileys is good as are many others, but for me it's Top Spec every time.

If you give TS a call they will give you any advice you want, and will answer your questions without doing a sales job on you.

Top Spec is also a fair bit more expensive...
Nothing against Top Spec, but I used to use Blue Chip, then switched to Baileys Lo-cal when I was looking to cut my costs. I am very happy with how my ponies look on it...

You're feeding your cob exactly what I feed my Tb in medium work. My TB looks a picture so I think whatever is in lo cal works really well. I wouldn't change to top spec as I'm happy, horse is happy and lo cal is much cheaper. Not sure if that's what you want to hear regarding the low cal and calories argument! I wasn't aware that it was calorific in anyway, I choose it because of it's low starch levels however my Tb is looking rather good on it ATM! :)

I've been feeding Bailey's Lo Cal on all mine from DWB, ISH, WB X TB and Cobs for some years and they all do well on it. Good feet, bright eyes and coats. They keep their weight pretty constant if their workload doesn't change, even the good doers.
Haven't tried Top Spec but happy with Lo Cal. I do feed Mag Ox to the good doers in spring and Autumn as well though.

Top Spec Lite is actually about the same price as LoCal, though AntiLam & the original balancer are more expensive (though worth every penny IMO). I don't know how Lite compares nutritionally to LoCal but I'm sure you could get a breakdown from both companies & look for yourself.
