Hi I’m new to the forum and would love some advice. I have a 15.2 Andalusian mare that I’ve owned for a few years. I am her 3rd owner and she has been on three very long journeys in a horse lorry, Spain to Cornwall, then Cornwall to Jersey and then jersey to Cardiff with me. I bought myself an Ifor Williams 506 trailer last year and she was sticky to load, so I got a liberty trainer out to help me and we started going out and about and it was great, but then she stopped again and learnt to reverse off at a dangerously high speed. I went back to basics again and she will stand there really peacefully for half an hour or so until I back her off. Yesterday I was taking her for a weeks schooling and she would not stay on and reversed 90mph off again and I got hurt. I carried on for 5 hours and even gave her a sedation gel but her adrenaline was just kicking in. I generally believe that this horse has had a terrible experience at some point and been badly beaten. I’ve enquired about loading experts to come out and help but they want huge sums of money for two sessions and what if it doesn’t work. Please can anyone advise me on my best way forward
