Well I've finally found out where Ruby's faults are and it's loading in the trailor!

Last Sunday I was going to take her to a local show, to do an in hand class. So I spent all of Saturday up the yard, cleaning tack, polishing boots, bathing and trying to keep her clean  Sunday comes and I end up having to bath her again as she's gone and pooed all down her hocks  bandage up and get the car ready. I honestly thought I would have no troubles loading her but just incase we gave ourselves 45 mins extra. Well Ruby was having none of it :(, she pratically loads herself into the lorry, but it has no MOT at the moment so we had no choice but to use the trailor. We tried everything from lungeline behind her bottom, feed, lunge whip, the waiting game etc. we then decided to load my friends Horse first, his never travelled before so we were expecting him to be the bad loader. No such thing and he walks straight on like a little angel. Still Ruby was having none of it and our 45 mins were up, so I left her behind :( I was gutted.

So Monday comes and I decide to do some practice with her, we didn't have to be anywhere so we had no time frame and I was planning on just waiting until she wanted to come in, 25 mins later and she has her whole body inside the trailor so I give her a feed. Suddenly the YO son comes up with one of them planes and flys it above the trailor. Cue Ruby going mad and then panicing because she realised she was in such a small place. There was no point continuing after as she was so focused on the plane and the others in the field were going mental so didn't see a point in stressing her further.

Yesterday I decided to try again. She was a bit reluctant from the day before, so I changed my tatic, and kept backing her off the ramp when she got on. After 15 mins she was calm again with the ramp so I got her feed and put it in the trailor, The little angel got straight on and ate it. She then followed the bowl through the side ramp and off she went :D I done it again, this time without the feed and she followed me straight through and off the other side. I left it at that as I was so happy and pleased with her :)

The next step is to strighten the partition again (I've tied it back so it makes it look bigger for her) I'm planning on going to a show on the 20th, so hopefully by then she will be fine to load in the trailor.

Sorry for the essay, but I am just so happy and proud of her.

Well done, you have built her trust and made loading a good experience for her now, hopefully she will continue to be a good girl and you will get to the next show.
