Sorry this might turn out a bit long but desperately need people's opinions on this. I presently have on loan a lovely ex eventer schoolmaster - he's fab but he cant jump due to arthritis in both knees, but he's fine in every other way. I do have issues with him schooling sometimes - he's a very arrogant horse who give him an inch will take a mile, but once he realsies what you want he's a dream to ride. Now problem - my daughter's been riding a horse for a friend - now this horse is almost perfect - but there's always a but - he has arthritis too in his hocks but vets think he'll be fine and is being brought back into work by daughter. We've been offered him on loan too but I cant afford to have two horses. And I dont know what to do. The lady who owns him seems very happy to allow us to continue bringing second horse back into work, and then see how he goes. She's even said that if he turns out not to be able to cope with work load she will retire him. But love my ex eventer - altho I have moaned to friends that perhaps he aint the horse for me but I was happy to continue.
