So firstly thanks to everyone's advice on my loan doubts thread. You raised a good few points I hadn't considered and made me think long and hard about why I'd agreed to take said horse on in the first place and whether it was the right decision for me.

Ultimately I came to the conclusion that if you can lie about something as simple as whether or not you own the horse then what else are you prepared to lie about? That for me was enough to make me very uncomfortable with taking on the horse and with my YO's infinite wisdom ringing in my ears I told the "owner" that unfortunately I was no longer comfortable with taking on the horse. Being someone who hates confrontation it was tough and I still feel immensely guilty for the position the "owner" has been left in but knowing she could ultimately give the horse back to the owner makes me feel a bit better.

Anyway, with that done and dusted my YO and I set about finding the right horse for me. I explained what I was looking for, this time including my absolute dealbreakers - mainly no short term loans. On a roll with my new found clarity I typed into Google "confidence giving horse hampshire" (up until now I've been searching in Surrey) and up popped a gorgeous tri-coloured irish gelding for loan or sale. Honestly if someone where to create a response to my wanted ad he would have been it. It was late so I rather impatiently waited til morning to text the owner asking if he was still available and when would be convenient to call and find out more. In the hours that passed I convinced myself he'd have been snapped up by someone else and that I was wasting my time, instead I came out of a meeting to find a voicemail saying he was indeed still available :D

After a long match of phone tennis I finally managed to get through to his owner and spent 20 minutes trying desperately not to get too excited as she told me all about him. We left it that I would speak to the livery yard he was on about viewing him.

I spoke to my YO who was happy to come with me but was only free the next evening, so I rang the yard and explained just that and they told me to pop on over the next day. I was a complete wreck from the moment the viewing was arranged right up until I was driving to the yard and swayed from being super excited that he could be the one to stressing that I'd look like a total numpty and they wouldn't let me have him, fortunately my fears couldn't have been further from the truth and I'm pleased to say that he's coming to live with us at the end of the month :D :D :D

He'll be on a 6 month trial wvtb although they've said if I need more time to save up (he was slightly above my budget) they're happy for me to keep loaning him until I can pay or I can pay in two installments. I've been trying to keep this quiet until he moves in but I'm just sooooo excited. I have pics but will save them for an "introduction" thread in the very near future.

Cookies and vimto for anyone who got this far.

Thanks lovelies! He's everything I was looking for and more, and is such a sweetheart. I took OH up at the weekend to meet him and he came straight over to us when I called his name and promptly set about trying to eat OH's trainers lol! Then when we went to leave he followed us to the gate giving us that "oi you've forgot something" look. I'm already counting down the days until he's here.

And yes, Vimto is amazing! :D

Oh how lovely, it's great when things just slot into place like that... Pics soon!!!

Yes it was really quite odd as it tunred out my YO is really good friends with the owner of the livery yard he's currently at. We drove home saying how he was clearly meant to be mine :D
