Loan Horse fell through, sooo Pi**ed off

After travelling all that way, the owner decided that my mum's riding wasn't good enough for her horse, (mum is 63) and so decided not to go ahead with the loan. My trainer told me to take it as a blessing in disguise, as when he watched the video of the horse going, he said he was unsound in trot.

So now it's back to the drawing board, but I know that so many other people are looking for loan horses, it's going to be a nightmare

I know this sounds pathetic, but i've had about 2 years of bad luck with horses, i'd really like something to go right for a change

there are plenty of nice horses about for loan - their owners just get fed up of being messed about and having their horses spoiled - in many cases

Both mine started off as loan horses, so there are good ones out there!

They just get snapped up very quickly!

Was it an event horse you were looking for?

I know what you mean, the trouble is, how do you let someone know that you do actually know what you're doing, that their horse would be given 5* treatment and totally loved?

I try and tell them as much about me as possible and show all the photo's and video that i've got, which proves i'm not a numpty

Yes it is but i'm not worried about competing at top level, would just so love to be able to go and play and have fun again

i think i will now be giving multi choice questions to prospective loanees

If the horse has a few stops jumping after 6 months of perfect behavour do you

a) beat it senseless
b) get its back/tack check and then get an instructor to help work through 'teething troubles'
c) throw a massive tantrum and write horse off as useless


*gets back off soapbox for the second time and hides keyboard*
 
I'd probably find out the last time it had teeth and back checked and go from there. if nothing transpires from that and it keeps stopping, i'd get my vet in.

BUT, if it only stopped a couple of times and then stopped it again, i'd say I probably rode it wrong to the fence, it lost confidence in me and I needed to get it back.

We gave up on trying to find a good loan home for our mare. I think it's hard (well certainly for myself) to trust anyone with your beloved animal when you've only met/spoken to them a few times.
I'm sure you will find something eventually, good luck!!
 
I'm trying to find a lovely person like you to loan my horse, though I don't know if he will be able to jump again. If you were looking for a dressage, hack with a teensy jump now and then, I have a lovely 15.3!!! And he is in the southwest too!

Hiya. Funnily enough I'm looking for a loan home for my coloured cob, possible sale, amd searching for a reliable loan hack to replace him. Cob is lovely but just too gollocky (is that an equine term?....basically his feet are too big to cope with the Exmoor tracks), so if anyone has a solution please let me know.
