Hi all.

Well the owner of my loan horse has out of the blue decided she wants him back. My agreement states that she can take him back if hes being mistreated-hes not she just wants him back. So do i argue it?
But then i think on the other hand, if i do manage to keep him itl only be til end of loan so whats point :( (plan was to extend loan after a year or buy him)....

Pretty gutted :(

So does anyone know of any horses from 14.2-16.2hh for sale very very cheaply/free/loan, anything considered? Or any ideas where to look?

Do you have much of your loan left? If yes and you like him (assuming you do as you wanted to buy!) then I would raise it with them.

At the end of the day the loan agreement is a contract. She would expect you to follow it so no reason why she shouldn't.

If you do want another loan try Horsemart or Preloved, although not sure there's much out there at the mo

If she wants him back then you've got to give him back really - but she ought to give you at least a month's notice.

This is a toughie. I've got a horse which I'ved loaned out - and we did a loan agreement where it states that there is a month's notice either side UNLESS the horse is (in the opinion of the owner) being ill treated in which case it can be instant removal.

Also, I've got a friend's little mare on loan at the moment as well, of whom I'm increasingly getting very fond of. So I do understand it from both sides.

If I were in OP's position I'd be inclined to make a reasonable offer for the horse and/or ask to be given first refusal. After all, you know the horse and have put in a great deal of work, commitment, expense and effort into the situation and IMO anyone wishing to sell would know its going to a good home.

Good luck!
