Hi, just looking for some advice! Going to view a pony for full loan on Monday and wondered what sort of questions I should ask? I'm taking my friend with me as my parents aren't horsey at all! I've got the obvious questions just wondered if anyone knows what I should ask:) any advice appreciated:D

How exciting! :D

How much do you know about the pony? If not much, I'd ask is it good in traffic, to hack in company and alone (try it out on a hack well), what's it done, good with vet, farrier, clip, box etc. What's it like if it's not ridden for a few days? That one is important if you won't be able to ride loads- you don't want something that will turn nutty just because it hasn't been ridden for half a week. I don't want something like that at least!

I'd also ask if it's got any preexisting medical conditions, or had Anything that is likely to return. When we first had my old pony we had her on loan. She'd had azouteria with her old owners so the agreement stated that we were responsible for all vets bills apart from for azouteria, can't remember whether they would have paid for all of that or we'd split it.

Make sure you watch it be ridden first- went to try out a horse who started rearing within minutes of the girl getting on, so I was blooming glad I hadn't got on first!

That's all I can think of for now, no doubt you'll get more helpful hints from others :p

If you like the pony and decide to go for it, then you'll need a contract, but that's the next step :)
