Hi I'm new here,
Have been nosing around for a while and now decided it's time I posted.
I have a 13hh 21 year old pony who is now recently retired and I am looking for a loan horse as I do not have the funds to buy my own.
Is it me or are there just NO horses about at the moment, the ones that are around have got serious behavioural or health problems.
I'm looking for something that is safe, as I'm not getting any younger

to do some hacking, schooling and a few local shows nothing spectacular.
Am I looking for something that is never going to be available for loan?
Sorry to moan

Hello!
I had my horse on loan when I first found him, but he was a bit of a pain in the bum initially. I do think it is hard to find a good horse on loan, I suppose at the end of the day there is a lot of people who want to loan horses and not that many horses available, and those that are for loan rather than sale are sometimes because of health problems that would make them unsaleable.
My friend has one up for loan...not to be jumped though, but if that is of interest and you are in the Bcks/Berks/Oxon area i could direct you to her advert?
Hope you have some luck....
Welcome to the forum

i'm not sure what area u are in, but i've found plenty of loan horses up here in scotland, just only 1's suitable are to be kept at their present yard. frustrating for me as i don't drive so i'd need to move the horse to my local yard.
i can totally see why people aren't willing to allow their horses to be relocated. i've heard so many horror stories. it just means i'm now just going to wait till i can afford to buy my own. (there is other reasons too but a long story)
only suggestions i can make is 1. keep checking the local tack shops, feed suppliers, talk to the local farrier too. for loan horses.
2. start saving the money u were going to spend on livery etc and maybe by the time u find a suitable loan horse u might have enough saved to start looking for a horse to buy?

Hi,
I had my boy on loan to start with before I bought him. I had just given up my last horse which I had on loan and fell upon this one. He does have health problems, hobdayed and a joint problem, but although we have had our fair share of lameness since having him it hasn't stopped me doing things with him.
Don't rule out all horses that have health problems without ringing and finding more about them first
