Loan nightmares

Hi I recently sent back my daughters outgrown loan pony that we had for 2 years. He was a great pony who we loved very much but his owners have put me off loaning for life, hence why I have now bought! I did everything I was told, put up with there routine spot checks, had them stalk me on Facebook, constantly calling me for no reason. I thought it was me but heard through different people that they are abit mad! He kept getting ill and I paid a fortune on vets bills- he was 23. Anyway when I decided it was time for him to go back they took it really bad, that it was an insult to them, they picked him up were really off with me. Now I'm so sad that it went that way as I imagined we could pop and see him again but we can't. After all I have been through with them and all I did for him! They are still calling me as they know my daughter has a new pony and trying to make us feel bad for sending him back like it's an obsession with them! Anyone else had a weird loan experience?

To be honest an over protective owner I'd better than one that's not bothered.
Although they could have helped you out on some of the vets bills.

Why they they should take it personally that you have given him back is silly.
It's there pony and it was going to happen at some point with a growing child.

Just ignore then, speak nicely and act sweet.

Yes same situation with an older horse- paid all its vet bills for lameness, put it on a decent joint supplement, had its back done every six months and teeth but when I decided I couldn't justify the vet bills, horse was becoming very spooky and changed in the school both flat and jumping, I called the owner and said he doesn't want to do it anymore he deserves to be retired. He was collected three weeks after calling - owner was 10miles down the road with brand new lorry and plenty of land and indoor barn stables. Horse was collected when I was away the weekend, I was removed from Facebook and never heard from again.

Yes you don't blame owners for being over protective but it became obsessive and just wierd I was like his 5th loan home so it wasn't the first time he's been away, the daughter who owned him was late 20's but couldn't speak for herself without her interfering mum doing it for her. Believe me you haven't heard the half of it...too much to write!!! No-one at my yard can believe what i have been put through! I once even had to speak to a horse psychic who hadn't met the pony over the phone - arranged by them when he was ill instead of calling the vet...ended up with the vet out anyway!
