Im trying to help a friend find a pony for her and her kids. She is experienced with horses, though has had a break after having children.

We have tried HH, Horsemart, horse hunter, pony club sites and facebook groups but finding something suitable is a little like gold dust....

Where else should we be looking people?!!

Needs to be suitable for her to ride (she is not big and weighs around 9stone) but also suitable as kids first pony, and able to move to her yard in Derbyshire/ Sheffield way.

All we find are part loans, youngsters or not novice rides. She would be in a position to spend about £1,500 should the right one come along

Sorry if I am intervening any rules by posting this, just sat on google, thinking 'where next'!

We were in this position this time last year - finding something sane and safe and between 13.2 and 14.2 is really tricky on full loan!

You could try Preloved and Equine Adverts if you haven't already.

Maybe don't discount part loans if they sound suitable in every other way? We eventually settled for the perfect pony on part loan (as opposed to less than perfect ponies on full loan!) - and a few months into it the owner asked if we wanted to take her on full loan, and obviously we jumped at the chance. Sometimes people aren't quite ready to fully give up their pony to a stranger, but after a few months of seeing someone is committed they might then be more confident to hand over the responsibility.
