I have been offered a fantastic opportunity with my job to go and live/work overseas for two years and am now beginning to look at the practicalities that this will mean. Myself, my OH and my little boy will be getting on a plane in March to go on our adventure and I am debating what to do with my horse, but more so, my son's pony. I wont be able to just hop on a plane to come back at the drop of a hat so am wary of loaning but would welcome your thoughts and experiences.

I have pretty much resolved to sell my horse :( I love him to pieces and he is absolutely fantastic and straightforward but he is now 12 and is really in his prime. He loves competing and I would love him to find a fantastic new home who could really enjoy him. I have advertised on Preloved for a couple of days but he's not exactly bargain basement (not massively expensive either though) but need to look at some 'proper' advertising. Opinions on best place to sell a quality RC allrounder/BE grassroots TB appreciated!

My son's pony is causing a major dilemna :( She is a very well bred and very correct show pony, approx 11.2. My son will be 4 next week so really would be able to ride her for at least another 3/4 years and he absolutely adores her. I am torn between selling or loaning. I think I would prefer to loan so he could have her back when we come home - and hopefully he would also be able to see her when we have visits back to the UK in the interim. My friend then mentioned the other day about seeing if we could find her a home to loan as a broodmare. Are there any implications to this? Insurance? Special loan agreement?

My other options are obviously to put them in full grass livery but think that they would both be happier with a purpose in life.

So much to think about - advice most welcome! :)
