I lent my trailer to someone as a huge favour as she had no one to pick her new horse up. I delivered the trailer to her, advised it needed to be back by 9.30pm as place kept is locked up then and it would be on the road all night. Assured me it would be back as she had to pick her child up at 9.30pm. Recieved a txt at 10.20pm saying to collect it as they were back. Rang her and was informed horse had never been in a box and took hours to load. Not my problem! I had said it would be 25.00 to loan trailer for diesel for me picking it up from storage, dropping it off and picking it up. This was agreed. She wasnt there when I picked it up, promised would ring me yest when at yard but didnt, no answer to telephone or txts today. Trailer borrowed on Thursday. Wsnt cleaned out either after use. What would you do? It has cost me in diesel, time, phone calls etc. Saved all txts by the way.

There's little you can do now really. Possibly you should have had the rental/loan fee up front plus a returnable deposit when the trailer is returned on time & in a clean condition. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though

just to clear this up spots mum contacted me as i requested a trailer asap to pick a mare up, agreed we could use trailer (no money mentioned presumed free loan so my fault i should have asked!!) after first sayin we had to go the storage place quiet a way out we agreed to meet her in said place to then get a phone call saying meet elsewhere which was going to be difficult due to timing etc we wouldnt have time to be messing about! which she then txt saying she would require a fee which is fair enough and i dnt mind that but to be aware in the first place would have been better though! We got to destination to find trailer a right state have pictures as proof! gotback to yard didnt have horse of literally 2 seconds to find she had took it and spoke to my uncle!

who on earth would lend out their trailer for free to somebody on a forum?this lady did u a big favour when she didn't have to...talk about wanting something for nothing!how ungrateful some people are!didn't it cross your mind to show your appreciation and give the lady some money seeing as she was kind enough to lend her property that she had paid for out, just to help u out?obviously not.
