What are the best sites to search whilst looking for a loaner for my mare?
Have tried equine ads, horse mart and preloved ...... any more?
Thanks

Would she be suitable to be loaned out to an equine college?

At least you would know she was getting excellent care after all the horror storys you hear about private full loans.

Seadog - I am one of those private full loan homes but I would give my right arm, leg foot etc for a lovely decent horse that I could love and have fun with I am so not a waster or into mistreating any animal let alone horses.

Have to say right arm and everything as my left arm is pretty much written off and weak...lol

There are some of us good un's out there still.. :) :)

(I hate loaning to equine collage's but that's again after a **** situation).

Merlywerly- I didn't mean to tar all private loans with the same brush as there is some great people out there.
My parents put my first pony on full loan, 8 weeks later the loaners sold her, I was lucky in that I was able to track the new owners. So you can see as to why I might opose the idea rather!

I wouldn't put someone else off however as it can work out brilliantly, my best friends horse is on full loan to her and recieves the best care.
What I was trying to highlight about equine colleges is although they aren't getting one on one care, you know where they are, you know they are being fed, you know they've got water and you know their beds are clean. Unfortunatly with a private loan you never really KNOW unless you have spies or they are kept at your yard.

yeah I know I have heard some quite awful stories out there makes me shudder and which is the reason why I am struggling to find 'that' horse...but will keep looking....lol
:D

I put my lad at an equine collage as I hated seeing him in the field when I did my back in and was not in a good place at that time...however he lived out - he never lived out he like his creature comforts, was fed haylage even though it went to his head, or given dry hay he had COPD and lami he was (when in put on straw bed) when I asked for shavings only...he did get a small shavings bed at first but i say small it was so thin he went through to concrete and ridden by complete idiots...I have picture proof so and came home broken too :( :( cost me a fortune but thats my reasoning for not using equine college's....well certainly not a large well known one in the south of england.

Glad you managed to find your pony again, how awful of people though I just don't understand what goes through their heads?....amazes me...I give all my animals all the love and fuss in the world and more...they live better than me :D :D
