Obviously all very dependant on what diagnosis we come out with... but if the prognosis is light hacking, I would look at loaning her out. Is this a potentially good thing to do, or are there just too many risks involved? How would you go about finding the right person? Couldn't sell her unless 100% sound for risk of her getting passed around, or abused.

Who pays the vet fees in a loan agreement too?

Sorry that's rather vague.

Will she be insurable? I paid the insurance when I had Ellie on loan (before she was given to me), but if you won't be able to insure her given her problems then perhaps you could suggest a 50/50 split for vet bills? I wouldn't have a problem with that if I was a loaner

I think it would depend on the prognosis in terms of how likely vets fees are in the future, and at what cost. My friend loaned a lovely mare as a light hack, she paid for her regular medication as part of the day to day cost, but her owner paid for anything else (and made all the decisions about treatment). Its a difficult one but its also about whether you want someone else making vet decisions about your horse?
