Next year B is having a gap year, going to Borneo Oct - Dec then home in Jan to concentrate on her eventing.

W pony will be 16 and we would like to have a foal from her which is better not delayed at her age. So that would just leave F competing

I always think it's worth taking 2 in the lorry to events as diesel is so expensive so we would be looking to loan or lease a 2nd horse for a year/season, possibly longer if uni studies don't take over too much.

As this would probably be for a year (but could easily be longer if said horse was a pleasant hack for me) would it suit a comp horse that is getting on a bit or possibly been injured - we would be wanting it to do 1*/Nov.

I suppose it would also suit someone who needed a year out for pregnancy/work/travel etc

Do these horses exist? Together with owners who would allow it to happen?

B is fairly competent, eventing presently at BE Nov, she is light weight and sympathetic. Horse would need to be on the smaller side or if tall would need to be lightweight and mannerly.

Horse would be kept on a knowlegable private yard, with great hacking and references from trainers/vets.

I have had exoerience loaning before bother as loaner and loanee and have always had a great reletionship with people who have loaned old ponies and my cobbie.

Does Karma exist sufficiently to enable us to find the horse we want?

Any ideas where we would find this paragon of virtue. We wouldn't be looking for a work in progress (already have one of those) more a proven comp horse that would give B safe fun at a level where they are both comfortable.

Anyone know of a suitable horse coming up for loan?

I would be happy to take it on at the end of this season and give it a holiday if necessary - if this a good idea?

I have the ride on such a horse as mine is off. The horse I ride has competed at novice but is not an easy ride! The owner has other things going on this year and did not want to sell.
I am also pretty sure Eventerlad15 has a horse that has competed at intermediate on loan.

Yes-but you have to look VERY hard!

I've had 3 i've been lucky to ride-one by word of mouth, one as we knew the owner and one by horsequest.

Shannah is on lease to us atm, and yes he has done up to int BE. He's perfect, but too expensive to keep for longer than October, so he'll go home after hopefullya cracking season. He may be availible next year!?

I hope to be able to have another ride next year too, i'm in U6th but form july onwards, for a gay year its horses. I'm currently toying with the idea of either staying at home, and having one or two to ride, or goingf to work at a yard, such as exmoor eventing and get some more riding done.

I'd just spread the word that you want such a horse, and you may end up with an older, but wiser, horse who has the ability. Someone I know has an ex 3* horse, purely by word of mouth advertising, and some serious talent!

I think that there would be many people out there who would fall over their feet for you to have their Novice eventer because of the current climate. A friend of mine was a very good rider but had not even done any B.E eventing, he put an advert in H&H asking for a experienced Intermediate horse on loan and he was absolutely flooded with replies- so he could literally pick and choose.
Advertise in H and H and on horsequest, I'm sure you will find something really nice!

Oh dear me, definetly not wanting to do that. Danm spelling!

This is something i would be thinking of doing with Frankie once he has reached his limit, you sound like a great home so I would think this would be very possible, word of mouth, adverts at events and an ad on horsequest should do the trick.
