Just a quick query, I'm about to loan out my horse and I was wondering about her passport. As horse have to be kept with their passports and it'll be needed any time she sees a vet I assume I give it to the person having her on loan? Is it then wise to have a photocopy of the passport for me to keep?

Thanks for any help.

I loan out my Shetland pony...I took a photocopy of his passprt for me to keep, and gave the loaners the actual passprt as they will need it to travel him and for vaccs etc.

The passport should stay with the horse.

I have the passport written in to my contract, and i as the loaner, have the passport, but i take my boy out competing so i dont have a choice. I think it depends on what type of loan. If you know the loaner very well etc. I dont think i would personally hand over a passport straight away... but by law the passport goes with the horse!!!
