A pupil of mine is looking for a horse to loan. She has her own yard/land and currently a nov/ele horse, but would really love to be able to give a home to a schoolmaster (wouldn't we all!) anyway does anyone have any ideas of where to look/contacts. She would be looking for a dressage horse perhaps medium/ad med level or an eventer who can no longer event.

5* home assured

Idea's?

Try horsequest horseselect horsedeals etc

Will do, just didn't know if anyone had any personal recommendations/contacts/ideas (maybe if they have done a similar thing themselves)

I think that sort of horse would go through word of mouth.
However a 'wanted ad' may yield some results - horsequest/H&H/BD site?

A few years ago I wanted my eventer to go to a home like this but didn't use any national publications as I wanted him to stay locally, so I advertised in the local paper. I got a lot of response. Maybe ask any eventing trainers round your way - they may have pupils etc who have a horse in that situation.

there are loads of people on horsequest & the bd website advertising wanting such a horse to loan

think they are like gold dust

i'm advertising to find one to buy i'm finding it that hard to find a decent horse that i like & passes the vet checks!

Contact local event riders etc. I know someone who has a few old advanced horses that are retired now, she does loan them out but only to good friends and not too far away. I have been given one of them - he was ridden by someone i worked for and owned by this person. He's fabulous, been there done that and was qualified for CCI****. Only really likes hacking now but if you want to do a bit of half pass or flying changes he will put up with you asking every now and then!!

Fabulous boy
