Ok, so next year going to uni, still undecided in BL's future, parents are very keen to sell, but we'll see.
They have given up on selling D, so that's fine, BUT if I am not here, he will be sitting for months on end doing nothing, only to be ridden when I come home..
Fine, except I've just noticed how fat he is, and he does get peeved if he is no given any attention (he wouldn't get any if I was away).
Plus, he would be stood in the winter paddock with no real exercise all winter...
So, am wondering about loaning. It does mean I will not have a horse to ride when I come home, but for his best interest?
But, not sure if there is a market for it?
How soon should I advertise?
He is 14.2 connemara, 11yr old, strong xc, and bucks, and will only jump with certain riders, will do 70cm ok, but any above that and he's off.
He does buck if held back.
Has done PC games, xc, sj and dressage (probably his best phase, judges love him, but he is in no way any good for anything other thatn 2"3 xc dressage!)
hacks, but spooky and doesn't like tractors/big vehicles.
I can ride and control him, just sometimes, and I'm strong on him.

only advice i can give is put an advert up for a loaner and see who turns up? i have been trying to find a few loaners and its hard work getting the right person - but unless you try you wont know? if no-one suitable appears - then maybe consider the other options?

Iv loaned my pony out to some really nice people,I think you just have to be very honest( warts and all when you loan a pony!)Then they cant keep coming back saying 'you said this you said that and of course they can do that but if you sale its abit different,They do get passed on alot if they have problems but yours sounds ok ,All horses have one problem or another ! Good luck,I feel for you its so difficult to know what to do !
