Local competitions schedule

Hi,

I dont own a horse and it's too expensive to use my share horse for competitions (need to rent a trailer box and also pay the owner extra) so was wondering if anyone knew if small yards allow people who don't ride there to come in and compete in their competitions with their horses. Is this done? (dont mind having an assessment session before).

Also is there a site that lists internal yard competitions or do I need to call them all individually to find out.

I think some riding schools do, but have you tried asking if people are going to shows locally and paying diesel and entries? Seen load if people asking this on fb sites!

Thanks for the reply. I'm in Edgware (North west barnet-close to herts) but my share is west of watford. Im on a small private yard and sharing with the owner. I dont know anyone who competes as dont come from a horsey community..

I think petasfield stables near Hertford do little fun shows, Its only a very small yard though, not a big competition venue.

I know lots of riding schools that let you use riding ponies in their own shows although sometimes you have to share with someone else. I'd contact local riding schools in your area and find out.

You could try posting on the regional boards, you might get more local suggestions?

I think wellington riding might do stuff like this and they do have fairly big competitions with competitors from outside as well. I know quite a few places which do this locally but I am midlands so not very helpful contacts for you

Honestly if you get on the FB groups Hertfordshire horse riders and Everything equine herts beds and bucks people round your way are always going to patchettes, you could easily arrange a lift!
