Only have a black jacket, and I plan on going to a small local show. Dont want to fork out for a new tweed jacket, and there is nothing on ebay in right size.

Can I get away with wearing my black jacket, with a tie or stock?

Can you borrow a tweed from anyone? Is anyone you know going that you could borrow their jacket just for 1 class even?Don't often see a black jacket at local level but I'm sure no-one would mind too much. You might get marked down a little in the turnout part but theres plenty of marks to be picked up elsewhere. Definately a tie not a stock though. Good luck!

No judge worth their salt will mark you down at local level for wearing a black jacket. There is never a turnout mark as such but a clean tidy workmanlike appearance of both horse and rider helps to give an impression that you know what you are doing.

I used to judge at RC level and I certainly would not have put you down for wearing a black jacket

County level is a different matter

I got my tweed jacket from Oxfam for £1! Worth going to have a look just in case!

I'd try and borrow one if you can but if not, I'm sure at local level, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Good luck!

I brought my saddle from sherwood saddlery. £30 new and its lasted 2 years. The only show classes that you should wear black/navy jackets for is show ponies and hacks.

I need 10/12 jacket... but I dont know anyone else that goes to shows... the one that does has a black or navy jacket! will have a poke round 2nd hand bit in tack shop tommorow.
