As title really, they refused to take my feed bags and small haylage wrappers! Said they don't take trade, which is fine but I'm not trade!! I tried explaining that my horses are at home and are for recreational use but they didn't believe me!! There was quite a few bags, about 2 months worth so I suppose it could've looked that way but it's the fact that they didn't believe me! So cross!!

What part of the country are you in? I have recently moved down south and cannot get used to their way with waste. Forgot to put bags out on Thursday night so now have to wait another week:(. In Nottingham just put everything in black wheelie bin and all recycleable in Green wheelie bin and glass in glass bin. Here South is a nightmare:mad::(

Fill your empty feed bags with rubish, garden rubish household etc, and then take them to the dump. :D

Or, fill with manure and sell!!!!
Or, hide a few at a time in the bottom of your household rubish.

a tip guy came scurrying over to me when he saw me throwing feed bags, going on about 'no animal waste'

I showed him what was in them though, household rubbish, i just recycle them as rubbish sacks ;)

gosh Fii you are very devious(sp) very cunning - you been doing this( getting rid of bags) for long he he he he he :) xx

:D :D , :D

Or split them open, and use them as to supress weeds in garden beds, under wood bark.

Or, use them as compost bags.
Or, fold down the sides, and plant potato's or tomatoes in them.

I was told off when I took all mine to the tip, now I hide them all in black bin liners and say it's furniture wrap!! They've never looked in the bags since

I used to live in Nottingham. They are, by far, the best local authority that I have ever come across. They actually seem to have a bit of sense!

Re haylage bags and waste - if you put them in the bin one at a time they are fine. A big load at once they would reject.

I used to burn ours if they built up, but they make an awful stink and smoke, so do it at night when the wind is blowing away from other houses!

Last week our bin was rejected because there was a pair of trainers in it!

We have a plastic/recycling bin at home which gets collected every 2 weeks.

Mind you- I don't often chuck my feed bags away- I use them for all sorts- OH always has people at work wanting horse poo so I bag it up in feed bags. I use them as boot liners for the car etc etc...

I was stopped at the dump the other week as I use Hi-Fi and tiger oat sacks along with those blue Ikea bags for my garden waste - they said I could not dump yard waste or horse manure - I pointed out it was from my garden - they said I had too much to be from one garden -Astra hatchback with seats down - full to the brim - I said you havn't seen the state or size of my garden  they let me empty them after watching me empty the first two bags to check they didn't have any manure in them......

The dustmen refused to empty my recycling bin when I had feed sacks or supplement tubs visible - I just buried them in the bin after that and never had a problem. If I had lots I would put them in the black bin however as they are quite selective in what they will and wont take and one item in you bin they don't like the look of and the whole bin gets left.
