Locking saddle racks- do they work?

We've got these. They are a visible deterrant - but they are very easy to break off. You just lever the hinge off the back. It doesn't even take much force. They are fine to stop someone moving your saddle to another rack or knocking it on the floor by mistake. But they won't prevent theft.

There are better ones on the market that actually lock over the main tree of the saddle which you really can't get off. If you need something to prevent the saddle being stolen you'll need something a lot more robust than these I'm afraid.

I've seen them in the flesh and I think they'd be easy to break.

If you're that concerned about your tack being stolen at your yard, then bring it home. It may be a pain in the a**, but better safe than sorry.
