Hi,
My mare has been in the wars this past year. In September she had an operation on her front leg to try and fix a hole in her tendon, In May scans show that it has not been fixed it has got worse and the tendon is ripped even more there is nothing more they can do but the vet said that trotting up she was sound on front (even before the operation she was only 1/10th lame) so I could walk her and see how she goes (obviously she will never be schooled etc just gentle hack)
At the same time she also had operations on both hind legs to de nerve the suspensory ligaments so she can not feel much from about her hock down on both back legs, these past few months she has been very stiff and lame on her back end, got the vet and he said it was a locking stifle and not to worry about it, BUT she is constantly resting it all the time, whether its just resting or leaning against fences to relieve the pressure, my problem is, is that will ever be able to build up enough muscle just walking on that stiffle for it to recover? she does not get ridden much - about 2-3 times a week for 10 minutes.
Anyone got any suggestions?! Thanks!
