Locking stifle operation

My daughters event mare stifle has been loocked since Friday we have tried everything to no avail. This has happened since she was three now seven every year about this time when her work regime changes for the winter. Our vet is talking about operating to release it anyone had this operation on their horse and is the outcome good ?

Yes, I've had the op performed on a couple of large TBs in the past. Op was a fairly quick and straightforward procedure and both horses recovered well with good results.

Yes we had a 4yo Welsh Cob done, both stifles on the same day at home by the local vet..... could slip either something like the hokeykokey in and out. He made a good recovery after a few weeks box rest and slowly back into work both driven and ridden including jumping.

Perhaps best not to breed off her though.
