I have one horse up for sale that I advertised about 4 days ago. I just love the emails you get over here but this morning is my second best ever...of all time!

Ha ha! I'd never even spoken to that person before. My reply was "No you won't - and no I won't"

Gosh, no waffle? You can rest assured it wasn't me who emailed then!

Mind you, it could've been worse. Email could've said "is it still available?"

Yes you're right - "it" is always something that gets my back up!

Remember my lovely Jessie, the little chestnut QH mare? Sold her yesterday - neighbour who wants Oscar bought her.....she's still trying to get me to move on him again. Not sure if you missed it, but I withdrew him for sale.

Oh it was awful; I watched him sitting in my field for a few months (while they were trying to get the money together) doing absolutely nothing and I started to feel sorry for him as he kept looking at me and wanting to go out. So I rode him out bareback.......and fell back in love with him again. I remembered all of the lovely things about him and reminded myself that this is a super-special horse......I also did a quick search on horses of his rare bloodlines and found weanlings were more expensive than I had offered him for sale to her for LOL!! Nah that is true, but I wouldn't have reneged on my deal with her had she come up with the money quicker. I'd say when I priced him way back in the winter, it was the correct price, however the market has changed again and he is probably at least $2,000 underpriced. The way I look at it - you snooze, you lose!

I love your philosophy, snooze and lose!

I know this is completely selfish, but I'm glad you didn't sell him. I had this feeling that you would regret it as you never looked at him as "just one of the horses". He wasn't bought with that detachment emotionally. Glad to hear you managed to sort her out with another horse that she's hopefully going to be very happy with.

In response to my horse's loan advert I had this one girl from Liverpool who said the yard she was at had 10 professional show jumpers. She then asked if I had transport (I think she wanted me to drive him to her to try out!! Bearing in mind I am in north Bucks and she was in Liverpool). She also put all these kisses after her name LOL Luckily most of the people that replied did so normally!!
Oh yeah another girl put that she was looking for a chestnut gelding to loan. That made me laugh...as if when you look for a horse for loan you only want a certain colour!!

I am pleased too - I've loved having him back with me again and have had him out loads of times and thoroughly missed riding him.

The small Appaloosa has 2 people who have put offers in for him (won't sell him till end of September though) and I have my preference as to who should have him.

I actually have the Pink Pony in mind for selling to my neighbour - he should be ready to go by the Spring. Gotta get him out working some cattle early Spring and then I think she should buy him instead of Oscar. That's the plan anyway.

I'm off to the foal sales in two weeks; Meg has made enough money backing boarding horses to buy at least one foal, perhaps two. I'm planning on buying 5 or 6 if they are as nice as they look in the catalogue....still having trouble finding my bloodlines for reasonable prices though

. Bain of my life!

Ach it all adds to life's great tapestry eh?

I used to find it incredibly rude, but nowadays I find it makes me smile.

Ive asked that question before - whys it funny?! If I think a horse may have been for sale for a while on a website then Ill email them first to ask if he's still for sale. If so, then Ill start asking the questions! There's no point writing out a big email to only find that the horse was sold a month ago!

I didn't say I thought it was funny...I don't, I said I thought it was rude.....but I do find it makes me smile. Smiling about something does not mean that it is funny.

Ah perhaps it is a difference of how people are brought up? To send an email of such few words is rude to me and discourteous to my horse, in my opinion.

Oh how exciting for Megan to be able to choose and buy her own youngsters. What a lucky girl. Does she have anything specific in mind?

It's horribly frustrating, I'm sure, to be set on certain bloodlines and not be able to source any neddies for sale with them. I guess that's testament to how good they are.

Good luck at the sales. Will look forward to seeing what little chappies and chappesses you bring home with you.

I've advised her to go for reg. APHA's (Paints - pretty colours so she can sell easy in the Spring). I'm going for AQHA's - looked at the catalogue and there are some nice ones. They also have fabulous Appaloosa's!! But they are difficult to sell around here so no good. I'll send you a link with the prices.....you'll be blown away! Actually look on the Foal Sales Thread and I'll post up there.
