All is well here in witch pony land at present! seem to be sorting lolas issues with bits -- shes in the eldonian version of a myler comfort eggbutt and seems okay, not as light as she is in the loose ring but at least its not rubbing and backing her off the bit shes also had a pair of front shoes put on due to her stomping and scraping, she has worn her toes a little short and i was worried it might start making her sore, so popped some shoes on for a bit to protect her toes a little
last update, she had just done her first bd novice - it was a shocking outing - i was ill, very over faced and gave up before i went in! got a reasonable score that was over marked i feel! but first sheet for areas checked off...
since then, i had an awesome lesson, had my butt totally kicked and told that i cant complain that it doesnt go right when i sit there and dont ride her -- this rung really true and ive been trying so hard to really ride, even if we have issues, rather than giving up because its not perfect... shes been ace
took her back for a repeat - novice 39 again at same venue, she was TONNES better, rode really sweetly, had a difference in both medium canters, i fluffed the first medium trot but the second was better ... canter/trot/canters on long side were perfect and it was just lovely - - que much happier rider!! a little disappointed in our score of 63.89 for what was a much better test than the prior one, but ho hum , still an area festival sheet and qualification for the native bd champs was also our first outing competitively for just mum and me, with her driving the box that we now share with a close friend so a really positive day! also saw J1ffy and her lovely horse, who looked fantastic
lots of hacking etc between, shes been super sweet and lovely and turned a corner again with the work we are asking
on to this weekend.....
Lola has officially moved house!!
we have been deliberating for ages about moving -- with my long working hours, no facilities at all (not even lights) and hacking only being heavy road work, we really struggled over winter to keep lola in work, let along progressing.. so we tentatively started putting feelers out among friends that we were thinking of moving.
the ponies were very happy at their little home, both came back to this yard when they came off the new forest so it very much is "home" to them, so i was rather nervous and stressed when moving day came!
We are very lucky to have stumbled across a small advert, linked to by a friend for us, for a private yard, two stables, just short of three acres, a storage shelter and ELECTRIC :O also... a beautiful 20x30 floodlit arena all just for us! we are very lucky in that they chose us to be the new tenants after it was free for the past couple of years!
so today, the ponies moved in to our little piece of pony paradise, its absolutely perfect for us and the ponies seem so happy and relaxed
roos sharer rode him first, while i popped lola in the stable to effectively get over herself - this pair have a bit of a seperation anxiety issue - they have only been a pair for the past year, before always being in a 3, so they really cling -- only when they are the one that is left! dont take a blind bit of notice of the other when they are the one that is going *sigh*
so, we had some tantrums, trying to rear over the door multiple times (its very high so she didnt succeed once), so she tried stomping and shouting.... then just quietened down and stood calmly at the back of the stable... thats a winner!
she was then absolutely AWESOME to ride, felt amazing in the school and just really chipper and jolly, so i think she approves!
turned them out into a small corral due to the ridiculous amount of grass and panicking about lolas weight, so we need a bald patch for fatty to go on! otherwise she will be coming in a lot or turned out in the arena - luckily shes not a pig and wont just keep eating... when we popped back up this evening, they were both stood napping so i think they are chilled and settling in as much as possible cant wait to see what comes!!
little video of our first ride at "home!" on lolas page not perfect, but making progress!
