Last time i updated we competed at the wellington unaff champs at novice and came a respectable 7th
since then we have been working our bums off, sorting a new music floorplan and music (with costume) for riding club area comp, which im super excited for, just hope we can pull it off!
first we went to the gallops to play racehorses with a friend on her pony (my first loan pony too!)
lola has been a little hit and miss of late, we are having more bitting issues, had her teeth done last week so that isnt the issue, just everything rubbing about an inch back from her corners of her mouth! got an eldonian barrel eggbutt like her myler and seems to be working, but it just gives such a dead feel in comparison but shes going sweetly again at least...
prior to new bit arriving, we made our bd novice debut! local venue, n39, i was VERY ill... it went awfully. Lola hates the warm up at this venue as its very deep, so she struggles with her tiny legs, i felt very over faced and just gave up, before i even got in the ring...
trot was horrific and tense, canter sweet, but messed up the first c/t/c on the long side for a 4...
judge very generous with 65.85, so despite it feeling awful, it cant have been soooo awful.... first in bronze section and 8th overall ... felt a bit of a farce really and we didnt deserve to be there! but its our first sheet toward area festivals and the native pony champs re doing the test at the same venue on the 21st so can at least work on some bits and aim for an improvement hopefully!
then ive had a super busy week, with uni work, work and a funeral, so only managed a little hack and a schooling/jumping session... in which she was AWESOME!!
which leads us to today we went to wellington unaff sj for a bit of a change bit of a last minute thing, and decided to do the 80 *gulp* as my friend was supposed to be doing it too (had to withdraw due to lameness) so we didnt want a huge wait between classes...
lola was uncharacteristically backward in the warm up, just really relaxed, on the aid but not fiery which lead to a couple of VERY untidy jumps at the start, but razzed her up a bit and she flew the oxer a few times and left it... went in and she was just on fire <3 flew everything, not a pole touched, a bit messy on my part but she really helped me out pilot error between 3 and 4 meant 4 faults, but i really couldnt ask more from her and finished on a high, she loved it, i felt sick after.. but it was fun 80cm is quite big for a little 13hh with a numpty rider on board, but she aced it and gave me the most confident feeling sj that ive ever had, really starting to trust her
so, thats it until the 21st! have a lesson this friday, going for a hack with a friend around some lovely riding the weekend after... then some very big news i can hopefully share !!
