Hi everybody,

Few months ago I move to England (London) from east Europe and I'm totally new. There I've been riding since I was young and train dressage for few years. I'm looking for nice place and people to horse riding and additional (could be other place) to continue trainings with dressage. Could you help me to find nice and best - non commercial place? I'm a good rider :)
Thanks in advance!

When you say non commercial, I am guessing you mean not a riding school or equestrian centre that charges money for lessons?

I could recommend a few of those, but if you are hoping to ride and train privately I am not sure where you could do that. Think you would have to ask around and it depends on your level of experience as to whether anyone would let you ride their horses.

Whereabouts in London are you? It's a big place! I guess a start would be to find a nearby livery yard and see if anyone would like you to help exercise their horse.

Whereabouts in London are you? There are a few on my yard for share at the moment (west london/herts border) :)

Snowysadude could you give me more information about your proposition? :) You can send me a PM.

Llewelyn could you recommend me a few places which you know?
The part of the London is no so important.

From the point of view of actually getting to the stables the part of London is important. For example if you are in SE London partsof Kent may be a possibility. SW London Surrey is accessible etc. To travel right across London will take a long long time. If you are in West London or NW there are a lot of stables in Middlesex and Hertfordshire.

Agreed, don't underestimate how long it takes to travel around London, used to take me 2 hours from central London out to yard in Rickmansworth. Standard contribution for a share is around £100-£150 per month too.

Although it's kind of commercial, perhaps worth looking at the Civil Service Riding Club. It's not quite the same as the good old days when it had its own horses, but I think they still do quite a bit and have access to horses that others don't. Quite a good social scene too (or at least there used to be - I met my OH there :) ..... ).

Are you on my yard??
Yes part of London is quite important as the commute to get to and from the horses can take hours from one side to the other! Will send you a PM though :)

Thanks a lot for respond. :)
Now I live in Central London on Whitechapel but in the future I like to move farther eg. SE that's the reason I don't write about which part of London I'm interested in. Horses and mostly dressage are most important in my life so this determine part where I'll be living in the future. I'm new here and I want to know more places to find most suitable.

I think you need to put more information into your request. The way this reads at the moment, you are looking to ride dressage horses and carry on training. However, you would need to show what level of experience you have or have competed at. Also, make it clear that if you are looking to share you would contribute to the costs. So something on the lines of " I have ridden to xx level and competed at xx" and "I would be able to ride x times during the week and would look to ride x times at the weekend" would also be helpful. If I was a seriously looking for a dressage share then I would think about contacting centres such as Oldencraig (in Kent) to see if any of their liveries are looking for a share or put a note up on the forum asking if anyone is already at these centres? I have no relationship with Oldencraig so can't tell you what the response would be, its just an idea!

When I did have a dressage horse I was very careful with him and my sharer came through my trainer who thought my horse and her student would work well together.

Hello dear horse lovers :)
I need your help again, because I had to left the topic for some period of time (not horses :)), now I like to return back to my request if somebody know the place or people who, for example, do not have enaugh time for his horse and like to share him.
Now I live near Canary Wharf and I like to continue dressage trainings and sometimes I like to hack out. I am on advanced level and do dressage as a hobby not for competition. I do not know what kind of levels you have got in UK and also I need to clarify that with owner of a horse (I can train the horse to higher level as well). I would be able to ride 2-3 times during the week but everything depends on the localization.
Anyway also I am looking for the nice equesterian environment :)
Obviously I can share some costs with the owner.
