I've seen some awful things on video of dogs being maltreated by walkers and kennels at Doggy Daycare (🙄). Dogs being slammed against vans, hauled around by collars, kicked, intimidated, just awful. I would rather mine went without a walk.

And thinking about it, years ago, they did and survived. This dog industry is a new thing and the treatment of your dog is down to how that person is feeling when they wake up.

Anyway, good to see this person is pleading mental health problems. What's new there then 🙄

Huge amounts of money to be made shoving dogs in an enclosed space for X amount of hours. I briefly considered using one for my long days at work until I realise you drop off at 9am and collect by 4.30pm. If I was about at those times only working short days I wouldn’t be needing your services…!

Sadly there are a lot of so-called "dog walkers" out there who basically haven't a clue; and couldn't care less either.

I went for an interview at a local "dog care facility" once: and it made me decide that I would NEVER ever trust one with any dog of mine; the pay just about scraped minimum wage, and core hours were from 0800 until 1700. After that you'd essentially be expected to stay behind (with no extra pay) until every dog had been collected and then wash everything down after that. You could easily be there till 8pm I would think. Only after you had worked your probation would you be paid for the extra hours. Additionally, it was obvious that any new dog would be very quickly just chucked out with the rest of the dogs there; with very little time left for isolation & familiarisation. They were interested in one thing: and that was raking the £££ in.

But the one that really haunted me, and upset me deeply, was one I heard about where a couple hired a "doggy care facility" to care for their dog on their wedding day: their job was to take the pet dog belonging to the couple to the venue on the wedding day, all done up with ribbons etc in the wedding colours to participate in the ceremony, and then take it back to their facility afterwards where it would be collected at some point by the couple. The dog made it to the wedding sure enough, and pictures were taken of it with the couple, but it never made it back home afterwards: the dog-care person loaded up the dog and then parked their van outside in bright sunshine on a very hot day, with the dog inside. They said they'd "forgotten" they had the dog inside the van, and the dog died. Of course all the wedding photos had the couple with their dog in it didn't it, and naturally they were beyond upset. I think I'd kill someone if they did that to any animal of mine, I honestly think I would.

When I go to work my dogs are in an old stable at my home; they can drink, sleep, and poop in there if they want. They are out of the sun, and nice & cosy in the winter as there is straw down for them. When I get home they are relaxed and happy. We do have a kennelling facility at where I work (agricultural college) which is available to staff, but TBH I think they're way happier at home; think it would be too reminiscent to Ginger Dog of her time in a rescue facility and I just can't do it to the poor old gal.
