London International Horse Show (Olympia) 2024

Going Thursday evening for dressage to music.

Thanks @ester for the BBC coverage. On Sky the red button is channel 900-something so I’ll record at least the Thursday I’m going to, puissance and a whole evening performance.

I’m looking forward to Lorenzo, I remember seeing him 25+ years ago as a child.

I remember him falling off when I was a teenager 😂😂

A friend has bought me a ticket for Saturday evening as a Xmas present. I had a nightmare parking last year and annoyingly there are no trains running south of St Albans for the Xmas period so I’ll probably try another train route in.

We’re going on the Saturday evening for the driving - although we’ll head up a bit earlier in the day to see the driving masterclass and some of the showing/dog agility in the other arena (and obviously browse round the shopping!). Should be fun to do something a bit different, the last couple of years we’ve been for the big ticket showjumping events on the Sunday/Monday, looking forward to the high speed madness of the driving as I’ve only ever seen it on tv but always been fascinated by it

We went last year on the dressage night and they cancelled so many trains going to St Albans so the one we got on was packed it was awful took us ages to get home.

I'm going Friday, didn't plan in advance so Friday afternoon was all I could get with the trains I found, still looks great.

It is at excel not olympia isn't it? I haven't been since it was olympia and it was a pita to get to.

If anyone is driving in remember the emissions charge. Bloody £180 fine when we last went right on the edge of London , I didn't even know it was a thing.

I went to the very first one when it was at Olympia. It was 1972 and I was in my first job as a groom and my employer was competing. We were both so excited, it was the most wonderful day and it was just so christmassy! So very hard to think that is 52 years ago. Have a wonderful time, everyone who is going. I envy you.
