Long coat or waterproof trousers or chaps

What do people prefer?

I need to get new waterproofs for the winter but don't know what is best to go for: a full length riding coat to keep all of me warm and dry hacking out through the winter or a short jacket and waterproof over trousers or chaps?

I have both, but I like the long coat best.

I have waterproof trousers, but find in downpours they do soak through. I prefer the old long wax coats.

Good quality waterproof chaps / trousers would be my preference - always found long coats a bit of a faff and less versatile - the trousers can keep your leggies waterproof even when you don't want a full coat on top, ie when exerting yourself around the yard!

Apologies for not getting to post back sooner. I finished work 11.45pm last night and was up at 5.30 this morning to start all over again.
