Long girths...

I have been going around in circles on this one. Grab a cuppa...
So I have two mares. One fat cob who wears an AH saddle and a Harry dabs ergonomic girth. She doesn't resent girthing but is stoical and immune to the worlds chaos. However when trying to sort out fussy mare no 2 I had a much better look at Mare No 1's girth and realised that the pressure is still loading only through the back of the girth. She expands massively when girthing so probably is uncomfortable Tried a Dever comfort girth - the pressure feels loads better but doesn't give her elbows much room. Suggestions?

Mare No 2. Drama queen. I have eliminated all (?) her issues and she is being super. Except she still bites and is upset on girthing. Haven't scoped for ulcers but she is on a sufulcrate trial. She is happy with her saddle. GFS saddle. AH girth. It is at the point of girth making contact that she objects. Saddler pointed out to me that due to her shape the girth is placing pressure on her sternum whilst baggy on her sides. She is fine once girth is done up. Fine girthing once on board. Again on closer inspection girth is placing uneven pressure... so what do I try next? Tempted by tapestry comfort girth. Has anyone used one?
Scharf and Wow seem to have very different contact points on the sternum. Both Very expensive. I think she might object to the single straps on her sides on both of these. So could
Be a costly trial. Though both sound good in their own way

I have a le tixerant which has a more even contact but is a fraction long and so too loose.
All the interesting girths are super expensive. I like to get these things secondhand if just trying them out. She needs a 52 (Brown pref) BTW in case anyone is selling one?
Any thoughts... or magic answers.

If a girth can't be tightened it's much too long, a long girth should be as short as possible while still being able to get it done up obviously. This saves bulk under the rider's leg and can be more stable.

Any girth with a wider sternum plate is likely to help, which one will suit the horse is still a bit of guesswork, though Wow, and Mattes to an extent (Mattes don't have especially large sternum plates for a need such as yours), are very good with their education on the "science" of the shapes of their designs and the shapes of horses they should fit.

Some of the new fancy ones either have rental schemes or a decent return policy if your horse doesn't get on with them.

So I went with the tapestry girth. Tried it today. It fits beautifully on both their sternums. It has equal pressure and was easy to keep symmetrical as I adjusted it. Both horses seemed to really like it but time will tell.
